The Craziest Thing

Oh the day of rest....do we love thee or is it the warning stress signal of what is to come?  LOL!!!  WE LOVE THEE!!!!  WE CAN DO 1 MILE!!!  Annnnd we have already done last weeks mileage...I say Bring IT!!!!  I say this as if I am NOT sitting here with frozen mixed vegetables on my calf.  LOL!!!  I have done a round of stretching this morning and I am pretty sure it will all come down as to how that muscle is feeling in the morning.  I did lots of extra stretching yesterday and even…

Upcoming Week of Hotel Conference Food

Posted by Rex Baker on May 17, 2012 at 2:54pm 6 Comments

I leave tomorrow for an out of state conference...the kind where you'll eat rubber chicken of various assortments for a few days and time to workout will be practically non-existent.  I'll get back two days before the Magnolia Meltdown.

I'm still very concerned about post-tibial tendonitis in my right foot.  I can go a few days without running and it feels great.  No pain...nothing....nada.  But did about a 2.5 mile easy jog last night and it's acting up again today.  It's the kind of…

FOOD CHOICES - MAKING THE BEST OF A BAD BUNCH

Posted by Dick Michener on May 17, 2012 at 11:00am 2 Comments

I usually skip dinners at our church because "healthy church food" is an oxymoron - in my experience.  However, I had to attend one last night to coincide wiith the final session of our Bible study group, a congenial, entertaining, and informative 28 weeks.  With a few exceptions besides Sandy and me, members of this group are "holy/wholely" couch potatoes.

I had to choose what would work best for me, so I chose items which would be calorie light (that is, they would fill me up…

This Moment

Posted by Daphne White on May 17, 2012 at 10:30am 0 Comments

So I headed out from the house this morning because yesterday went well with my back...wrong, or maybe not....hummm.  Once I crossed Hwy 84 (Main Street) I started my intervals.  That lasted all of about 1 mile.  I stopped a few times to try and stretch that right lower leg, but I finally decided that it really wasn't helping.  I took to walking.  I figured I would walk the rest of my time to at least help with getting use to the temps...that was a bust.  As I got to the end of the…

I Can't Tell You Why

Posted by Daphne White on May 16, 2012 at 10:00am 0 Comments

From being so stiff and not able to get a really good stretch going the past few days, my left leg is talking to me.  I gotta laugh though...instead of walking over, I drove.  I figured that day when all was fine with the world and my upper back almost put me on the ground, I really didn't want to chance being stuck and not able to get back home if whatever in my lower back turned out to be something.  Happy to report my run went pretty well.  Inside lower leg was talking to me, but I…

Are you still combating fear?

Posted by Wendell Otto on May 15, 2012 at 2:06pm 3 Comments

"The greatest mistake man makes is fear, which of course is a lack of faith. Fear prevents us from taking that next important step....When fear creeps in and takes possession, as we give the right of way to doubts and anxieties...  When fear creeps in, faith flies out the window...But when you begin to lose your faith, you are really saying to your subconscious, "I have now palced my faith in the negative". (Emmet Fox)

With running, I know if you follow a system and are consistent and…

Blisters...

Posted by Stacie Brown on May 15, 2012 at 1:59pm 8 Comments

Ok after Saturday's run, suddenly I'm plagued with blisters! I have done some reading and I think the ones between my toes can be relieved with moisturizer and/or Vaseline before running...but the ones on the end of my two left toes??? I'm wondering if my shoes are too short? I got 1/2 size big at Stinky Feet.  Any ideas anyone?
